Christian, who did his PhD with Alan Rayner on the relationships between insects and fungi, is a mycological ecologist who teachers evolution and environmental science at The Open University. He is a member of the British Mycological Society education committee, the Microbiology in schools advisory committee, the British Ecology Society and the Royal Entomological Society. During the fungal season, Christian runs walks, talks and workshops to introduce people of all ages to the wonders of fungi. He also runs Rural Arts in Science & Sustainability Education (RAiSE ecology) - a hands on transdisciplinary ecology course focussing on how humanity can attune in nature to Natural Inclusion.
