How many of us share this feeling of encroaching menace?
As the culmination of an irreverent way of life
Spent hiding from the true nature of reality
In safe housing
Within a walled garden of Earthly delights
Where no wild possibilities are allowed
To stray into our consideration
.
Until at last our cover is broken
When outside comes inside
Our splendid self-isolation
Causing us to doubt
The very foundations of our false security
.
What then?
.
Do we seek to come to terms
With what we’ve disregarded
Learning to live in tune with what goes on
Within and all about us?
.
Or, do we rush to self-defence
Declaring the invader
To be an Enemy of the State
And dig our selves even deeper
Into our fix?
