Deserted Life

A life deserted
By fearful intrusions
Leaving nothing to celebrate
From past endeavours
Is what I am living through
As I mourn this passing of promise
Into bleakness
This barren landscape
With only shadows for company
.
Why did it have to come to this?
I wonder
When I meant no harm
I only wanted to be of benefit
To this human race
In all its wilful plundering
Blundering
.
Now I see it once again
That dreadful wall
Against it all
Defining me in solitude
